Hi, I’m Lynton Auld, an ecologist with over 30 years’ experience working across south-eastern Australia, including the Australian Alps, Barrier Ranges, Blue Mountains, Sunraysia, the Otways, the MIA, Central-West NSW and much of Outback NSW.
These landscapes aren’t just where I work, they’re where I live and play. I spend my time cycling, bushwalking and kayaking, with experience ranging from multi-day hikes and bike tours to extended kayaking expeditions. Protecting biodiversity and cultural heritage isn’t abstract for me; it’s personal.
My background spans Landcare, farm forestry, bush regeneration, landscape rehabilitation, reserve management, asset management and environmental and strategic planning, primarily within government and not-for-profit public sector roles.
Im trained as both an authoriser and an assessor under the Biodiversity Conservation Act.
I choose to work in the public sector because I believe in decisions made for community benefit, not private profit. Private profit can occur ethically, but sometimes developers need a little push.
I now offer my expertise to Local Governments across NSW as a specialist Environmental Planning consultant, with a focus on biodiversity and cultural heritage.
I bring a deep understanding of the NSW legislative framework and an entirely independent, objective perspective. With no ties to developers or commercial consultancies, I support planning teams with clear, defensible advice on complex issues they may only encounter infrequently.
